CLASS 0500 - ANCIENT ARTMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 The Mediterranean Sea is a lake and its shores have produced many important cultures and artistic traditions. The course will survey the artistic traditions of Turkey and the near east, Egypt, Greece and Rome. Special attention will be paid to (1) the relationship between the artistic traditions of individual areas and the societies which produced them, and (2) the way in which influences from one culture were transformed by another.
