ENGLIT 0590 - FORMATIVE MASTERPIECESMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will study in some detail eight or nine of those masterpieces which form the largest part of what we now regard as the Western tradition of literature. The works chosen will come from various genres--epic poetry, drama, the novel, and satire. They will span the centuries from the classical periods of ancient Greece and Rome through the Renaissance and into the nineteenth century.
